How to create thumbprint cookies
Discover the detailed instructions and step-by-step images for making this delicious recipe. The complete recipe, including the ingredients, is outlined below.
Step 1: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F. Prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

Step 2: In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt using a whisk. Set this mixture aside.
Step 3: In the bowl of your stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
Step 4: Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined.

Step 5: Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir until just blended to form a cookie dough, taking care not to overmix.
Step 6: With a small cookie scoop, portion the dough into balls.
Step 7: Transfer the remaining sugar to a small, shallow bowl, and roll the dough balls in the sugar to coat the exterior.
Step 8: Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Step 9: Using your thumb, make an indentation in the center of each cookie.

Step 10: Fill each cookie’s well with ½ teaspoon of jam. Avoid overfilling to prevent the jam from bubbling over. Repeat with all cookies.
Step 11: Bake for approximately 12-18 minutes, or until they turn a light golden brown. Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet.
